TCS establishes new business unit to support MNCs in setting up GCCs
TCS launches dedicated unit to accelerate AI-driven global capability centre development
Mumbai, June 09 : Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has set up a specialised business unit aimed at assisting enterprises in building and managing global capability centres (GCCs).
Named Global Value & Innovation Centres, the new division will focus on enabling companies to create AI-native GCCs while also modernising existing setups, according to the IT services major’s statement.
The unit will be headed by Soumen Roy, formerly TCS’ country head for Canada, who will report directly to CEO K Krithivasan.
TCS said the new division will support organisations across the entire GCC lifecycle, including planning, establishment, operational management and AI-led transformation initiatives.
Although the expansion of GCCs was once viewed as a potential threat to traditional IT services, Indian technology firms have increasingly embraced the trend, with multinational companies continuing to scale up their captive centres in India.
India remains the world’s largest GCC destination, hosting over 2,100 centres that collectively employ around 2.36 million professionals and generate close to $100 billion in revenue, according to estimates by Nasscom and Zinnov.
TCS’ initiative reflects a broader industry shift, with IT majors building dedicated structures to capture GCC-related opportunities. Infosys introduced an AI-focused GCC model last year, while HCLTech and Cognizant have also appointed senior leaders to drive similar strategies.
The company currently supports more than 150 enterprises across sectors and regions at different stages of GCC development.
