Proposed Srinagar Bridge Project Awaits Financial Nod; ₹143.89 Cr DPR Sent for Approval

JAMMU, Feb 18: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday said the Srinagar bridge proposal near Convent School and the General Post Office is under active consideration by the Public Works (R&B) Department.

Responding to a query raised by MLA Sheikh Ahsan Ahmed in the Assembly, the government stated that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared for constructing a VOP/bridge/flyover connecting Convent Road (Joggers Park) to M.A. Link Road via Sherwani Road across the River Jhelum.

Officials confirmed that feasibility assessments and technical surveys have already been carried out for the project. The estimated expenditure for the infrastructure plan stands at ₹143.89 crore.

The DPR has been forwarded to the Finance Department for concurrence, and further action will proceed once the required clearances are obtained, the government added.
