1.11 Crore New PM Jan Dhan Accounts Added During Financial Inclusion Campaign, Says Finance Ministry

Nationwide four month drive boosts financial access with over 4.7 crore new enrolments under Jan Dhan, insurance, and pension schemes.

New Delhi, Nov 11: The Finance Ministry on Monday announced that over 1.11 crore new Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) accounts were opened during the four month long Nationwide Financial Inclusion Saturation Campaign, underscoring the government’s continued focus on deepening financial inclusion.
According to the ministry, the campaign  which concluded on October 31  also saw the enrolment of 2.86 crore beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), 1.40 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), and 44.43 lakh under the Atal Pension Yojana (APY).
“The campaign achieved remarkable success, as reflected in the substantial progress across financial inclusion parameters,” the Finance Ministry said in a statement.
During the initiative, 2,67,345 camps were organised across villages and towns to facilitate new enrolments, update Re-KYC details for inactive accounts, and encourage nomination updates. The campaign also promoted financial literacy, spreading awareness about digital frauds, unclaimed deposits, and grievance redressal mechanisms.
The government said it remains committed to driving inclusive growth by expanding access to financial services at the grassroots level, leveraging collaboration among banks, government agencies, and local stakeholders to ensure every citizen benefits from India’s financial empowerment initiatives.
