‘120 Bahadur’ Declared Tax-Free in Delhi; Farhan Akhtar Expresses Gratitude to CM Rekha Gupta

Tribute to Rezang La heroes: Delhi government honors the courage of 120 Kumaon soldiers through cinema

New Delhi, Nov 28 : The Delhi government has declared Farhan Akhtar’s latest war drama, 120 Bahadur, tax-free in the capital from November 28, a week after its release on November 21. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the decision as a tribute to the extraordinary bravery of the 120 soldiers of Charlie Company, Kumaon Regiment, who fought valiantly at Rezang La during the 1962 India-China War.

Describing the film as “a tribute to the extraordinary courage, leadership, and sacrifice of the 120 soldiers of Charlie Company of the 13th Kumaon Regiment,” Gupta said making it tax-free will ensure wider audiences witness this pivotal moment in Indian military history.

Farhan Akhtar, who co-produced the film with Ritesh Sidhwani under Excel Entertainment, expressed his gratitude on Instagram, thanking the Delhi CM for honoring the soldiers and supporting the film.

Directed by Rajneesh “Reji” Ghai, 120 Bahadur stars Farhan Akhtar as Major Shaitan Singh Bhati and Raashii Khanna as his supportive wife, Shagun Kanwar. The movie chronicles the legendary stand at Rezang La, where 120 Indian soldiers faced over 3,000 Chinese troops. Highlighting a lesser-known chapter of the 1962 war, the film brings the story of courage, sacrifice, and heroism to a wider audience.

Farhan Akhtar had earlier expressed his hope at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025 in Goa that the government would make the film tax-free, enabling the story of Rezang La to reach as many viewers as possible.
