Islamabad, Feb 1: Pakistan’s security forces said on Sunday that 15 soldiers and 92 militants were killed during extensive counter terrorism operations launched across Balochistan following coordinated attacks by armed groups a day earlier.
According to the military, militants affiliated with ethnic Baloch outfits attempted to carry out violent activities in several areas, including Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar and Pasni. Forces and law enforcement agencies, already on high alert, responded swiftly to prevent further escalation.
In a statement, the army said troops conducted prolonged clearance operations across the province, eliminating 92 militants, among them three suicide attackers. The violence also claimed the lives of 18 civilians, including women, children, elderly residents and labourers, after militants targeted non-combatants.
Fifteen soldiers were killed during gunfights and clearance efforts, the military said, adding that operations to secure affected areas remain underway. Authorities vowed action against those involved in planning, supporting and executing the attacks.
The army also said that 41 militants linked to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed in separate operations conducted on Saturday in the Panjgur and Harnai districts.
With these developments, the total number of militants killed in recent operations in Balochistan has risen to 133, the statement said. The military added that the counter terror campaign approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan would continue at full intensity.
Balochistan has witnessed a sharp rise in violence in recent years. Data from security research groups indicate that fatalities in the province increased significantly last year, while militant attacks across Pakistan also recorded a substantial uptick in 2025.
