HARIDWAR, Jan 6: Patanjali Yogpeeth celebrated its 32nd Foundation Day with a vibrant gathering of saints, scholars, students, yoga practitioners, and senior leaders of the Patanjali movement. The celebrations were led by Swami Ramdev, Founder President, and Acharya Balkrishna, General Secretary, who reflected on Patanjali’s journey and its global vision.
Swami Ramdev described Patanjali as one of the world’s most sacred institutions, deeply rooted in Sanatan values, which he called universal and timeless. He urged students of Patanjali’s gurukuls, universities, and educational institutions to take pride in India’s ancient wisdom, emphasizing that yoga, Ayurveda, disciplined living, and education can awaken limitless knowledge, devotion, and inner strength.
Global vision for Indian education and culture
Swami Ramdev said that as Patanjali’s education system matures, India’s global image will be strengthened, with the Indian rupee and passport gaining greater value worldwide. Highlighting a shift towards value-based living, he predicted that 80–90% of the world’s population will adopt Sanatan principles in the coming years, describing Sanatan Dharma as a complete lifestyle harmonized with nature.
Yoga, Ayurveda, and naturopathy as future of healthcare
Addressing global healthcare trends, Ramdev stressed that yoga, Ayurveda, and naturopathy, focused on prevention, balance, and natural healing, will become globally recognized systems of medicine. He also reaffirmed Patanjali’s vision of an Indian Education Board blending traditional wisdom with modern knowledge.
On national strength, he urged India to become powerful, disciplined, and fearless, while commenting on international events such as the arrest of Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro by the US as undemocratic.
Acharya Balkrishna reflects on 32 years of service
Acharya Balkrishna recounted Patanjali’s journey, describing it as challenging yet transformative. He credited Swami Ramdev’s vision and determination as the driving force behind Patanjali’s expansion into education, healthcare, research, and agriculture.
Balkrishna highlighted the organisation’s impact on FMCG pricing, organic farming, and rural livelihoods, noting that Patanjali’s efforts trained farmers across 19 states and contributed to sustainable agriculture initiatives. He also emphasised Patanjali’s cow-based products and organic ghee programs, which improved rural income and supported sustainable farming practices.
Cultural and sports celebrations
The event included yoga demonstrations, mallakhamb, martial arts, wrestling, boxing, judo, and karate by students, showcasing physical discipline, confidence, and integration of traditional and modern sports. Several service oriented individuals were also given organisational responsibilities during the celebration.
