5.2 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Afghanistan; Kashmir Valley Experiences Tremors

JAMMU, Nov 13: A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan on Wednesday morning, with tremors reaching as far as the Kashmir Valley, approximately 800 kilometers from the epicenter. The quake occurred at 10:43:19 IST, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), which reported that the earthquake originated at a depth of 192 kilometers beneath the surface.

The deep-seated quake caused noticeable vibrations in parts of Kashmir, where residents reported feeling the tremors. Fortunately, initial assessments indicate no damage to property or injuries in either Afghanistan or Kashmir. Authorities continue to monitor for any delayed reports of impact.

This event underscores the region’s vulnerability to seismic activity, as both Afghanistan and Kashmir lie near tectonic plate boundaries. Local authorities have advised residents to remain alert and be prepared for any potential aftershocks, though none have been reported so far.
