Jammu, November 17, 2021: Rich tributes were paid to former Dy. C.M. Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma on his 89th Birth Anniversary here today. Senior political leaders, social and religious personalities, and people from different walks of life attended.
An impressive function was held here today at Jagat Resort Shaktinagar Jammu organized by Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma Fan Club through its Convenor Mr. Rajesh Sharma in coordination with the family members. Speakers from the political class, social, and literally fields remembered the great contributions of the veteran leader who was respected widely by people from all walks of life and played a great role in the politics of Jammu and Kashmir for a long time.
Apart from the family Guru Ashok Ji Maharaj (Jammu Maharaj), Senior Congress leaders and other prominent personalities who spoke on this occasion were: Shri Mula Ram ( Ex-Minister) Shri Raman Bhalla( Ex-Minister) Shri Ravinder Sharma(Ex MLC) Shri Yogesh Sawhney( Ex-Minister) Shri Balwan Singh(Ex MLA) Shri Balbeer Singh(Ex MLC) Shri Gardhari Lal(Ex MLA) Shri Ved Mahajan((Ex MLC) Shri T S Bajwa ( Ex-MP) Shri Zorawar Singh (Chairman Team).
Speaking on the occasion Shri Mula Ram remembered the long services of Pt. Mangat Ram in public life and described him a towering personality of Jammu and Kashmir who was respected by people of all regions and religions irrespective of caste, creed or color. He was a strong voice of the people of Jammu while strongly committed to a secular ideology.
Former Minister and Vice President PCC Shri Raman Bhalla lauded the services of Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma to Jammu and Kashmir and termed him a strong pillar of the Congress party who was committed to the welfare of people of all walks of life and pleaded the cause of equitable share to the Jammu region while maintaining the unity and integrity of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.. He played a crucial role in the mainstream politics of the erstwhile state and the country for more than a half-century and served the people in different capacities.
Th. Balwan Singh, Former MLA, and Senor Congress leader appreciated the leadership and role played by him whose doors were always open for the general public and raised a strong voice for the Jammu region.
Mr. Ravinder Sharma remembered the great contributions and leadership qualities of Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma and described him as a people man, respected by one and all.
Former Minister Shri Yogesh Sawhney described Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma as one of the tallest leaders of Jammu and a strong pillar of the Congress party who remained committed to the service of people throughout his life and played a vital role.
Shri Jorawar Singh Singh, Chairman Team Jammu also paid rich tributes to Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma and lauded his services as a humble politician.
Smt. Gurbachan Kumari, Former Minister shared her experience about the personality of Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma who always cared for the grass root workers as well as poor people irrespective of caste, creed, or color.
Shri Girdhari Lal Chalotra, EX-MLA described him as a great leader who served the people of every nook and corner whosesoever approached him.
Several other political and social personalities retired bureaucrats paid floral tributes to Mangat Ram Sharma. Besides the family members large number of people of all walks of life attended the function.
