Mumbai, July 23: Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan’s long-awaited dream project, Mahabharat, has moved a step closer to production as preparations for the epic adaptation enter their final stage. Industry sources said the actor-producer and his creative team have completed major pre-production work, including script development, concept design and technical planning.
The film, considered one of the biggest cinematic ventures in Indian entertainment, is expected to be produced on a massive scale with cutting-edge visual effects and global production support. The makers are reportedly finalising key casting decisions before announcing the official production schedule.
According to people familiar with the project, the screenplay has undergone multiple revisions over the past few years to ensure a faithful yet contemporary adaptation of the ancient Indian epic. The production team has also consulted historians, mythology experts and visual artists to create an authentic cinematic experience.
Several international VFX studios are believed to be involved in the planning process, while elaborate sets are being designed to recreate the kingdoms, battlefields and royal courts described in the Mahabharata.
Although the makers have not confirmed the complete cast, speculation continues over several leading Bollywood actors being considered for pivotal roles. An official announcement regarding the ensemble is expected in the coming months.
The project has generated enormous excitement among movie lovers ever since Aamir Khan first expressed his desire to bring the Mahabharata to the big screen. If everything proceeds according to schedule, filming is expected to commence later this year.
