AAY Beneficiaries Receiving Extra 10 Kg Free Ration Monthly Since April 2025: Government

Proposal to supply 12 LPG cylinders annually to beneficiaries under review, says FCS&CA Department

Srinagar, Oct 29: The Jammu and Kashmir government has announced that Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) households have been receiving an additional 10 kilograms of free ration per beneficiary every month since April 2025. The initiative, implemented under Government Order No. 25-JK (FCS&CA) of 2025 dated April 2, aims to strengthen food security for economically weaker families across the Union Territory.
According to the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), the supplementary ration is distributed under the Public Distribution System (PDS) to AAY households with four or more members, ensuring the allocation does not exceed 10 kilograms per person.
The department also confirmed that a proposal to provide 12 LPG cylinders annually to AAY beneficiaries is currently under active consideration with the government.
Regarding funding, the department clarified that no separate budgetary allocation has been made for procuring the additional food grains. The cost of procurement, loading, and distribution is being met through the department’s revolving fund, while the food grains themselves are supplied free of cost to eligible ration cardholders as per official directives.
The move reinforces the government’s ongoing commitment to support low-income families under the AAY scheme and ensure food accessibility across Jammu and Kashmir.
