SRINAGAR, Oct 12 — The Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) has arrested an absconding accused, Khalid Sahani, son of Farooq Sahani, a resident of Reshi Mohalla, Khar Doori, Shaheed Gunj, Srinagar, who had been evading the law for the past four years.
According to an official statement, the arrest was made in execution of a long pending warrant issued by the Court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Vailoo, District Anantnag, on December 3, 2021, under Section 512 CrPC. The case pertains to FIR No. 38/2018 registered under Sections 419 and 420 of the Ranbir Penal Code at the Crime Branch Kashmir, involving charges of cheating and impersonation.
Following credible leads, the Economic Offences Wing apprehended the accused on October 10, 2025. He was produced before the court on Sunday, which subsequently remanded him to judicial custody and directed that he be lodged in Central Jail, Srinagar.
Officials said the arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown against economic offenders. “This action underscores the Crime Branch Kashmir’s commitment to ensuring that no offender escapes the reach of the law, regardless of how long they remain in hiding,” the statement added.
The CBK reaffirmed its resolve to bring to justice all individuals involved in financial fraud and economic offences across Jammu and Kashmir.
