Adiala Jail Confirms Imran Khan Healthy Amid False Death Rumours

Former Pakistan PM receives medical care and comfort in high-security prison amid circulating false reports

Paskistan, Nov 27  : Amid widespread rumours on social media about the alleged death of former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan, the Adiala jail administration has firmly denied the reports. According to Geo TV, officials stated that Khan remains in good health and continues to be housed inside the high-security prison.

“There is no truth to reports about his transfer from Adiala jail. He is fully healthy and receiving complete medical attention,” said Rawalpindi prison authorities. The administration also clarified that there has been no deterioration in Khan’s health.

Imran Khan, who was ousted in April 2022 following a no-confidence motion, has been incarcerated since 2023 over multiple cases, including allegations of corruption and terrorism.

Defence Minister weighs in
Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif confirmed that Khan is in comfortable conditions inside the prison, reportedly receiving high-quality meals and having access to exercise equipment. His remarks came after PTI demanded clarity on the health and status of their jailed leader, as well as a meeting with his family.

Khan’s sisters have reportedly been attempting to meet him for weeks but have not been granted permission, staging sit-ins outside the jail in protest.

PTI issues statement
On Thursday, PTI condemned the rumours as “despicable,” alleging they originated from Afghan media and foreign social media accounts. The party urged the government and Interior Ministry to immediately dismiss the rumours and arrange a meeting between Khan and his family.

“A formal and transparent statement should be issued on behalf of the state regarding the health, security, and current status of Imran,” the PTI added.
