New Delhi, August 7 : India on Thursday successfully carried out the test launch of the Agni-4 ballistic missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, Odisha, marking another significant achievement in the country’s strategic defence programme.
The medium range missile trial was conducted by the Strategic Forces Command (SFC) in coordination with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The Ministry of Defence confirmed that the exercise successfully demonstrated the missile’s operational capabilities and advanced technical performance.
According to the Defence Ministry, all key operational and technical parameters were verified during the test, which was conducted under the supervision of the Strategic Forces Command.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO scientists and SFC personnel for the successful mission, stating that the achievement reflects India’s continued efforts towards strengthening national security through indigenous defence technologies.
The successful launch further highlights the reliability of India’s strategic missile systems. The Agni series, ranging from Agni-1 to Agni-4, includes missiles with strike capabilities extending from approximately 700 kilometres to 3,500 kilometres.
The latest trial reinforces India’s focus on enhancing its defence preparedness and maintaining a credible strategic deterrence capability through advanced missile technology.
