New Delhi, Nov 4 — Two Air India flights were diverted mid-air on Monday and Tuesday following suspected technical issues, the airline confirmed, adding that all passengers and crew members are safe.
An Air India Delhi–Bengaluru flight (AI2487) made an unscheduled landing in Bhopal after a suspected technical snag was detected during the journey. “The aircraft landed safely and is undergoing precautionary checks that are expected to take some time,” an Air India spokesperson said.
“Air India regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers by this unforeseen situation. Our ground team in Bhopal has been assisting passengers, and every effort is being made to fly them to their destination at the earliest,” the airline added, reiterating that passenger safety remains its highest priority.
Meanwhile, another Air India flight from San Francisco to Delhi (AI174) made a precautionary landing at Ulaanbaatar International Airport in Mongolia after the crew suspected a technical issue en route.
Passengers were safely disembarked and provided with hotel accommodation after completing immigration procedures. “Air India sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused by this diversion, which was undertaken in the interest of safety. Alternative arrangements are being made to fly passengers to Delhi at the earliest,” the spokesperson said.
Both incidents come as the airline continues to modernise its fleet and upgrade safety and maintenance protocols across international and domestic routes.
