Akhilesh Yadav Pledges Financial Assistance for Women Ahead of 2027 Elections

Samajwadi Party chief pledges revival of welfare schemes and new empowerment programs for women

Lucknow, Mar 23: Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav announced that if his party comes to power in Uttar Pradesh in 2027, women from marginalized communities will receive an annual pension of ₹40,000 under the revived Samajwadi Pension Scheme. Speaking at the party office in Lucknow, Yadav stressed the need to improve women’s financial independence and self-reliance.

He outlined plans to restart existing welfare initiatives for women and introduce new programs aimed at enhancing their social and economic empowerment. Yadav also mentioned reintroducing schemes similar to the Rani Lakshmibai initiative to honor and support women, highlighting the crucial role women play in the state’s overall development.

Critique of Current Government
Yadav sharply criticized the current law and order situation under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming rising crime rates have left women feeling unsafe. He accused the state government of misusing the system for political purposes and argued that meaningful improvements would require a change in leadership.

On infrastructure, Yadav targeted projects like the Green Corridor in Lucknow, saying the initiative lacked proper planning and ignored pedestrian safety, suggesting that funds could have been better utilized to improve roads.

He also commented on the upcoming West Bengal elections, expressing confidence in Mamata Banerjee’s return to power and asserting that public support for her remains strong despite opposition challenges.
