Mumbai: The much awaited action thriller Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, is set to arrive in cinemas on July 10, 2026. The announcement comes after speculation circulated that the film might skip theatres and release directly on a streaming platform.
Production house Yash Raj Films (YRF) dismissed the rumours and confirmed that the film will have a full theatrical release. Alia Bhatt also shared the date with fans through her Instagram Story, while the studio officially revealed the schedule on social media.
The film is part of the widely popular YRF Spy Universe, which includes successful titles such as Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3 and War 2. Unlike earlier instalments that focused on male secret agents, Alpha will be the franchise’s first spy thriller led by female protagonists.
Alia Bhatt and Sharvari will headline the project, performing intense action sequences and large-scale stunts as part of the film’s espionage narrative.
Earlier reports had suggested that the film secured a major deal for a direct digital premiere. Responding to the speculation, YRF issued a statement rejecting the claims and emphasised its commitment to theatrical releases for major productions.
The studio said Alpha is designed as a large-scale cinematic experience and described the project as an important film within its upcoming slate. YRF also expressed confidence that audiences would support a heroine-led action film in the same way they have embraced other blockbuster titles in the franchise.
Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film also features Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor in key roles. Actor Hrithik Roshan is expected to make a special appearance as Kabir, the character he portrayed in War, linking the story to the broader spy universe.
With its announcement, Alpha becomes one of the most anticipated releases of 2026, marking a significant expansion of the popular action franchise with a female-driven storyline.
