All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisations Hosts 6th Round Table Conference in Jaurian-Bomal

Jourian, 22.03.2023: Dalit OBC Minorities, a wing of All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisations J&K organised a 6th round table conference at Jaurian-Bomal for protection of Constitution & Democracy under the slogan of “Sath Chalo, Milkar Lado”.

Ajay Shivgotra, President Guru Ravidas Sabha Jourian-Bomal, organised the conference wherein people belonging to SC/ST/OBC/minorities from Jourian and Khour tehsil participated.

RK Kalsotra, President Confederation and DOM, while addressing said that many such conferences to be held across the J&K. The agenda of such conferences is to educate and make people aware about the threats the Constitution and democracy are facing.

Retd principal Suraj Prakash supported the need for round table conferences being conducted by DOM as the rights of underprivileged are being constantly curbed. He further mentioned that right to speech is fundament right and should not be curbed in any form.

Dr Ramesh Kaith further supported the agenda and appealed all to join in to save the fundamental rights and constitution. He further mentioned that privatisation is on the rise and more public sectors are being privatised which will hurt not only the minorities and downtrodden but also the general people.

S. Kuldeep Giani talked about the importance of equality enshrined in the Constitution. But lately this is being compromised and this is changing the character of the Constitution which is against the interest of common people.

Further Kalsotra said that three major resolutions were passed at the conference. One was to demand new Parliament House as Dr BR Ambedkar Parliament House, 2nd was to focus on safeguarding the Constitution and the democracy, 3rd was to have Permanent revenue entry to poor land allottees.

Various other issues also highlighted. These include issues with Reservation, Prohibition on privatization, ban EVM, Reservation in higher judiciary, reservation in promotion, Reservation in private sector, Stoppage of Collegium System, To implement all the recommendations of the Mandal Commission, Caste Census, Reinstatement on backlog posts, Reservation in contract-lease, Prohibition on Dalit oppression, Opposing the inclusion of forward castes in ST, OBC, among others  and also included cancellation of land allotment of poors, property taxes, issues related to health, unemployment, privatisation of education etc. & reservation to Salit Christan

Kalsotra mentioned that BR Ambedkar had participated in three round table conferences on 1930,1931,1932 during the Colonial Era to fight for the rights of downtrodden. He participated in them to promote the rights of Dalits. Only after this provisions for the Dalits were added in the constitution of India. But now they are under threat and thus, Confederation and DOM has taken upon itself to revive these rights and stop their further dilution. It can be continued with continuous support from the people and hence, their participation in such functions is duly appreciated and necessary.

Further he mentioned that there have been 105 amendments to the Constitution and it is changing the basic structure of the Constitution. Thus, in order to save the rights, Constitution should be saved importantly.

Others who spoke were Ajay Shivgotra, Panch Nita Devi, Panch Vijay Thapa, Panch Garo Devi, Ex Sarpanch Gopal Dass, Madan Lal, Shankar Chand, Moti Lal, Suram Chand, Ratan Lal, Ajeet Lal, Pandit Ashok, Bishan Dass, Sunan Lata, Janak Raj. All of them said that these conferences should be converted into a revolution for social justice. And more places should be reached where we can hold these conferences and start a conversation around how we can continue Dr BR Ambedkar’s legacy. They unanimously supported the resolution passed at the conference.
