New Delhi, Jan 27: An all party meeting was convened in the national capital on Tuesday to deliberate on ensuring the smooth conduct of both Houses of Parliament during the forthcoming Budget session.
The customary meeting was chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and attended by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju along with leaders from various political parties, including Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh.
The Budget session is scheduled to begin on Wednesday with President Droupadi Murmu’s address to a joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget on February 1, which falls on a Sunday.
The first phase of the session will run until February 13, during which Parliament will take up the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address and initiate discussions on the Budget.
