BHUBANESWAR: Amazon India has significantly strengthened its presence in Odisha by onboarding more than 1,000 local sellers since the launch of its fulfilment centre in Bhubaneswar last year. The move reflects the company’s strategy to empower small businesses while expanding its logistics and delivery network in the region.
Alongside seller growth, the company has witnessed a notable increase in customer adoption across several cities, including Angul, Balangir, Cuttack, Ganjam, Jharsuguda, Mayurbhanj, and Rourkela. This surge highlights the increasing reliance on online shopping in both urban and semi-urban areas of the state.
The fulfilment centre in Bhubaneswar, with a storage capacity of approximately 0.25 million cubic feet, serves as a critical hub for faster deliveries and efficient inventory management. In addition to this facility, the company operates a sort centre in the capital city and maintains a robust network of 52 delivery stations across locations such as Balangir, Cuttack, Jharsuguda, and Puri.
Speaking on the development, Karan Chugh, Director of Operations at Amazon India, emphasized that the company’s progress in Odisha aligns with its long-term commitment to strengthening its operations across India. He noted that Amazon invested over ₹2,000 crore last year to build and operate a faster, safer, and more reliable logistics network nationwide.
The investment has been directed toward expanding infrastructure, upgrading technology, and enhancing the safety and well-being of its workforce. These efforts are expected to further accelerate e-commerce adoption while creating new opportunities for local entrepreneurs and businesses in Odisha.
