Mumbai, Apr 15 : E-commerce and technology giant Amazon has announced a major strategic move to acquire satellite firm Globalstar in a deal valued at approximately $11.57 billion.
The acquisition is part of Amazon’s broader ambition to expand its satellite internet services and compete with rivals in the rapidly growing space-based connectivity market.
The move is expected to enhance Amazon’s Project Kuiper initiative, which aims to provide high-speed internet access to underserved regions worldwide.
Industry experts believe the deal could reshape the competitive landscape of satellite communications, particularly against players like SpaceX’s Starlink.
Beyond connectivity, the acquisition also positions Amazon to play a larger role in global digital infrastructure, reinforcing its status as a diversified technology conglomerate.
