Ameesha Patel Faces Non-Bailable Warrant in 2017 Cheque Bounce Case in Moradabad

Actress responds to decade-old event organiser complaint, vows legal action against alleged false claims

Mumbai, Feb 17 : Bollywood actor Ameesha Patel is back in the legal spotlight as a Moradabad court issued a non-bailable warrant against her in connection with a 2017 cheque bounce case filed by event organiser Pawan Kumar Verma. The dispute, stemming from a wedding booking and payment issue, has resurfaced after several years.

Patel responded on social media, stating that the matter had been previously settled and the complainant had received the agreed amount. She accused Verma of making “false allegations” and said her legal team is preparing criminal proceedings of cheating against him. “I prefer to focus on my work and ignore people who make public spectacles for attention,” she added.

This case adds to Patel’s history of cheque related legal troubles. In 2023, she appeared in Ranchi Civil Court over a 2018 cheque dispute involving ₹2.5 crore with businessman Ajay Kumar Singh. Earlier, in 2021, a cheque of ₹32.25 lakh issued to UTF Telefilms had also bounced, highlighting a recurring pattern of financial disputes in her career.

The actress now faces a high-profile legal battle in Moradabad, with her lawyers expected to challenge the non-bailable warrant in the coming proceedings.
