Amit Kapoor Calls Out BJP Leaders for Alleged Collusion with LG, Sparks Outcry in Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu 2 September. Amit Kapoor, President of Dogra Welfare Organisation, which is agitating against smart meters, today said that the issue of smart meters is a household issue across Jammu and Kashmir and their agitation will continue till smart meters are removed. Along with this, he accused the BJP leaders of fixing with the LG. Due to this, he tried to mislead people by meeting LG that the issue of smart meters is almost resolved and prepaid meters will not be installed.

Amit Kapoor said that he also took a dig at senior BJP leader Sham Lal Sharma and others who tried to mislead people by holding a press conference after meeting LG saying that the issue of smart meters has been resolved and prepaid meters are now Will not take

Kapoor said that these leaders do not know that when smart meters are installed, there will also be prepaid meters among them. On the other hand, Kapoor said that even a secretary does not listen to him and he says in the Pros conference that smart meters and prepaid meters will remain installed. He said whom should people believe, believe the statements of the Secretary on the LG or on the BJP leaders. He said that the real issue is of smart meters and property tax and even as far as toll plaza is concerned, there should not be any toll plaza in the state as the BJP leaders themselves have said that there is no toll plaza in the UT. Kapoor said that to divert people’s attention from the issue of smart meters, the BJP has raised the issue of toll plazas.

Atim Pur said that a toll plaza is being built at Thandi Khui, two kilometers away from Saror, which will be ready soon. Kapoor said that if there were no toll plazas in the UT, then why were people’s blood being sucked by installing toll plazas in Jammu and Kashmir. Kapoor said that there should not be any toll plaza in Jammu and Kashmir and toll plaza should be set up only after the statehood is restored. He also raised questions regarding the silence of Dr. Jitendra Singh in this matter and said that why is he also maintaining silence regarding this matter.

He strongly criticized the LG administration for deploying police force to forcibly install smart meters. He said that after the installation of smart meters, people are being handed huge electricity bills. Kapoor said that if smart meters are correct then why are people’s bills getting higher. He appreciated the step taken by Yuva Rajput Sabha regarding toll plaza but also put into the dock the leaders of transporters who are saying that first fix the roads and then collect toll. Kapoor said that if there is no toll in the UT then what is the use of toll plaza. He said that people do not accept toll plazas, smart meters and property tax and their agitation will continue until the government withdraws these decisions.

Kapoor said that he had started the issue of smart meters from Janipur and there is opposition in the entire UT and it has taken the form of a mass movement. He said that the people of the UT have the first right on the electricity generated in Jammu and Kashmir and they should be provided free electricity.
