JAMMU, Feb 7: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday led a high-level review in Jammu to evaluate the status of major development initiatives across Jammu and Kashmir, officials said. The discussions centred on accelerating infrastructure growth and ensuring effective execution of priority programmes in the Union Territory.
The meeting at Lok Bhawan brought together Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, and Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, along with other senior administrators.
Shah began his regional visit late Thursday and on Friday travelled to the Border Security Force’s forward positions at Gurnam and Bobiyian along the International Border in Kathua district. Following the visit, he presided over a separate security assessment attended by Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, focusing on ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorism from the region.
During the trip, the Home Minister also interacted with the families of police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty and distributed appointment letters as part of support measures. A delegation from the Bharatiya Janata Party met him to discuss organisational outreach and development priorities.
In a message shared on X, Shah said he had engaged with BJP office-bearers, legislators, and parliamentarians from Jammu and Kashmir, reiterating the party’s commitment to strengthening the delivery of central development initiatives and advancing the goal of a secure and prosperous region.
Officials indicated that Shah is expected to depart for New Delhi later in the day after concluding the review sessions.
