Amit Shah Congratulates India’s Women’s Blind Cricket Team on T20 World Cup Triumph

India remains unbeaten as they clinch the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind in Colombo

India, Nov 24 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday lauded the Indian women’s blind cricket team after they clinched the first ever Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind 2025, beating Nepal by seven wickets in a dominant final held in Colombo.

Calling it a “historic day for Indian sports,” Shah congratulated the team on X, saying the win reflects their “resolve and dedication to win honours for the nation.” He added, “All my best wishes for your future endeavors @blind_cricket.”

India delivered a flawless campaign, remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament. After opting to field first in the final, the Indian side restricted Nepal to 114/5 in 20 overs. The chase was emphatic India overhauled the target in just 12.1 overs with 47 balls to spare.
Khula Sharir starred with an unbeaten 44 off 27 balls, hitting four boundaries and guiding the team to a comfortable victory.

This milestone comes just weeks after the Indian women’s team defeated South Africa in Navi Mumbai two major wins highlighting the rapid progress of women’s cricket in both mainstream and visually impaired categories.

India entered the final after a commanding nine wicket win over Australia in the semifinals. Nepal secured their place by edging out Pakistan in a tight contest.

The six-nation tournament, featuring India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, and the USA, began on November 11 in Delhi before moving to Bengaluru and concluding with the knockout phase in Colombo.
