Union Home Minister shares his health transformation journey, highlighting sleep, diet, hydration, and exercise as key to weight loss and diabetes reversal

New Delhi, Oct 23 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah has revealed that he lost over 20 kilograms and reversed his diabetes over the past four years through consistent, simple lifestyle changes. Speaking at the ‘Healthy Liver Healthy India’ event organised by the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) in New Delhi on World Liver Day, Shah detailed how small adjustments reshaped his health and energy.

“Since May 2020, I have transformed my life and reversed diabetes by improving sleep, hydration, diet, and regular exercise,” Shah said. He added, “The required amount of sleep, water, diet, and regular exercise has given me a lot. Today, I stand before you free from any kind of allopathic medicine and insulin.”

These lifestyle changes also helped him shed more than 20 kilograms, proving that lasting health results are achievable without extreme diets or shortcuts. Shah urged young Indians to prioritise health and balance as a lifelong investment, advising, “Dedicate two hours of exercise for your body and six hours of sleep for your brain.” He also emphasised liver health, calling it “the gateway to a healthy body.”

Key Habits from Amit Shah’s Transformation:

    • Prioritise Sleep: Aim for 6–8 hours of uninterrupted sleep to support hormone balance, blood sugar control, and recovery.

    • Stay Hydrated: Begin the day with water and maintain hydration throughout for metabolism and organ health.

    • Eat Balanced, Home-Cooked Meals: Focus on vegetables, proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats while reducing processed foods and sugar.

    • Exercise Regularly: Dedicate at least two hours daily to walking, yoga, strength training, or sports consistency over intensity.

    • Maintain Routine and Discipline: Regular schedules for meals, workouts, and sleep enhance both physical and mental health.

    • Avoid Quick Fixes: Sustainable results come from gradual lifestyle changes, not crash diets or extreme plans.

    • Care for Your Liver: Limit alcohol and fatty foods, and include liver-friendly foods like leafy greens, citrus, and turmeric.

    • Mind-Body Connection: Good physical health supports sharper thinking, better focus, and improved decision-making.

Amit Shah’s journey underscores that simple, disciplined habits can lead to remarkable health benefits, including weight loss and diabetes reversal, without relying on medications or drastic measures.
