Amit Shah Rolls Out Expedited Immigration Clearance at Five Additional Airports

Amit Shah Expands Fast Track Immigration Scheme to Enhance Convenience for Indian Nationals and OCI Cardholders

New Delhi, Sep 11: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday announced the expansion of the Fast Track Immigration–Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) to five additional airports, aimed at expediting immigration clearance for pre-verified Indian nationals and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card holders.

The programme, initially launched at Indira Gandhi International Airport in July 2024, was extended to seven major airports — Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Cochin, and Ahmedabad. Today, it became operational at Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Tiruchirappalli, Kozhikode, and Amritsar.

Addressing the launch virtually, Shah said, “Fast Track Immigration: Trusted Traveller Programme makes immigration simpler, faster, and hassle-free.” So far, over three lakh people have registered, with 2.65 lakh having already availed the facility.

The FTI-TTP enables eligible travellers to bypass regular immigration queues and use e-gates for faster processing. Indian nationals and OCI card holders can register online at www.ftittp.mha.gov.in
, submit biometric data including fingerprints and facial scans, and enjoy a seamless journey upon verification. The registration is valid for five years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.

The initiative, modelled on the US Global Entry Program, will eventually cover 21 major airports in India. In the first phase, Indian citizens and OCI card holders will benefit, followed by foreign travellers in the subsequent phase. The Bureau of Immigration will serve as the nodal agency to maintain a ‘Trusted Travellers’ whitelist, ensuring secure and swift processing through e-gates.

Officials highlighted that the programme is being offered free of cost during the initial phase, and thousands of passengers have already experienced quicker immigration processing. For assistance, travellers can reach out to the support help desk at india.ftittp-boi@mha.gov.in.

This expansion underscores India’s efforts to enhance international travel convenience, strengthen airport efficiency, and promote seamless mobility for its citizens.
