Anantnag, June 10 : A police operation in the Tulkhan locality of Bijbehara resulted in the recovery of narcotics and a substantial amount of cash, marking another significant step in the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking in south Kashmir.
According to officials, the action was initiated after law enforcement agencies received reliable inputs regarding the concealment of contraband at an under-construction residential property. A search team subsequently conducted a raid at the location and carried out an extensive examination of the premises.
During the operation, officers recovered 104 grams of charas like substance and ₹25.50 lakh in cash. The seized items were reportedly found hidden beneath boulders on the ground floor of the structure.
The occupant of the property, identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar of Tulkhan, Bijbehara, was taken into custody in connection with the recovery.
Police have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and initiated further investigation. Authorities are examining the origin of the seized substance and exploring possible connections to wider narcotics distribution networks.
Officials reiterated their commitment to curbing illegal drug trade and said efforts to identify and dismantle trafficking channels would continue across the district.
Residents have also been urged to share information related to narcotics-related activities. Police assured that details provided by informants would be treated confidentially while stringent action would be taken against those found involved in drug offences.
Authorities maintained that sustained enforcement measures remain focused on protecting young people from the impact of substance abuse and eliminating drug trafficking networks from the region.
