Andhra CM Jagan Reddy to Review Cyclone Montha Impact with YSRCP Leaders

Former CM to hold meeting with district units on relief efforts, YSRCP cadres assisting victims across coastal areas

AMARAVATI, Oct 30: Former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will hold a detailed review meeting with the party’s regional coordinators and district presidents to assess the damage caused by Cyclone Montha across several districts of Andhra Pradesh.

According to party sources, Jagan Reddy will direct YSRCP leaders to ensure that the state government extends immediate and fair assistance to families affected by the cyclone.

Acting on his earlier call, YSRCP cadres have been actively engaged in relief and rescue operations in cyclone-hit regions over the past few days. From Srikakulam to Tirupati, local party teams have helped residents relocate to safer areas, distributed food and essentials, and collected field reports to present during Thursday’s video conference.

Cyclone Montha, which swept through parts of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Odisha on Wednesday, brought heavy rains and strong winds, leading to flooding and disruption in several low-lying areas.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu visited the worst-hit regions in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, conducting an aerial survey of affected areas in Amaravati to assess the extent of damage.

In neighbouring Telangana, heavy rainfall lashed Warangal district and adjoining areas under the cyclone’s influence. According to the Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Department of Telangana, the state recorded an average cumulative rainfall of 15.4 mm till 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Warangal registered the highest cumulative rainfall at 77.8 mm, followed by Mahabubabad (73.3 mm), Jangaon (51.5 mm), Yadadri Bhuvanagiri (41.2 mm), Hanumakonda (35.8 mm), and Khammam (27.1 mm).
The lowest rainfall was recorded in Mulugu (4.5 mm), followed by Jayashankar (4.8 mm), Karimnagar (5.4 mm), and the Hyderabad region (14–15 mm range).

Officials in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana remain on high alert, with weather agencies warning of continued moderate rainfall in some regions as Cyclone Montha further weakens into a depression.
