Andhra CM Thanks PM Modi for 400-Acre Land Transfer for Mulapeta Port

Centre clears land transfer to accelerate port development and boost regional connectivity

Amaravati, Mar 18: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the Centre’s approval for transfer of nearly 400 acres of land for the development of Mulapeta Port.

The land, measuring over 385 acres, has been handed over from the Naupada Salt Factory to the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board, a move expected to accelerate progress on the port project. The approval was granted by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, strengthening the state’s infrastructure push.

Naidu said the decision would significantly enhance connectivity and operational efficiency of the upcoming port, positioning it as a major logistics hub. He also acknowledged the support of Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal in facilitating the process.

Located in Srikakulam district, the port is strategically placed to serve not only coastal Andhra Pradesh but also adjoining regions of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and southern Odisha. With a natural deep draft and proximity to key road and rail networks, it is designed to handle large vessels and substantial cargo volumes annually.

The project is expected to play a crucial role in boosting trade, regional development and employment, aligning with broader goals of strengthening India’s port led economic growth.
