Any nominations to Assembly prior to Govt. formation would be undemocratic – Congress

Power to recommend nomination of 5 MLAs, should lie with new government—Congress.

Jammu, Oct 3; Congress has strongly objected to the move of the ruling BJP  to get five of its leaders nominated to the Legislative Assembly, from LG  prior to the process of govt. formation in J&K &  termed any such move as undemocratic and against the mandate of the people and asked the  LG to desist from any such move.

Reacting strongly to the media reports in this regard JKPCC as termed any such move as undemocratic, an attempt to defeat the people’s mandate. JKPCC  Sr. Vice President & chief spokesperson Mr Ravinder Sharma, has said that the power to nominate 5 members to the legislative assembly should lie with the new govt, otherwise it would be an attempt to defeat mandate of people although Congress – NC will get comfortable majority  toform, the govt. but any such exercise would be contrary to the democratic norms & would be another betrayal with the mandate of the people.

The people have cast their vote to elect their representatives to form the govt. whosoever gets majority, in the elections should be given chance to form the govt. he added

The congress party had favored reservations in assembly for POJK refugees, KP,s & other minorities through elections in order to give representation to them but it would be misuse of the provision of nomination, if is used to defeat the mandate of people by the BJP.
