Archana Puran Singh Recalls Shy Actor Who Refused to Hug Her On Set: How the Scene Was Resolved

Actor shares a nostalgic moment from 1987 film while Mumbai food tour turns laughter-filled reunion

Mumbai, Oct 4: Actress and TV host Archana Puran Singh recently took a stroll through Mumbai’s streets with her family, exploring Maharashtrian delicacies on a food tour guided by influencer Kunal Vijaykar. During the outing, the ‘Great Indian Kapil Show’ star fondly reminisced about her 1987 film Jalwa.

She recalled a memorable incident involving actor and TV host Cyrus Broacha, who played her younger brother Suresh in the movie. “There was a sad song scene where the police were taking away my brother, and he had to hug me. He hesitated as he was very shy back then,” Archana shared. The situation was humorously resolved when veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah intervened, telling Broacha, “Hug her. Or 10 years later, you will feel why didn’t I hug her?” The revelation had everyone laughing.

Cyrus Broacha, now known as a television host, theatre artist, comedian, political commentator, columnist, podcaster, and writer, gained fame for shows like Bakra on MTV India and The Week That Wasn’t on CNN-News18.

The lighthearted session also saw actor Ayushmann Khurrana share a quirky anecdote. He revealed he once ate leftover cake from US pop star Katy Perry. “The cake-cutting happened post-midnight at a party hosted by Karan Johar at Dharma Productions. Very few people ate it, and the next day it was sent to the office. I sat down and ate it all,” he confessed.

The amusing revelation had everyone in splits, with Ayushmann’s brother Aaryamann Sethi nicknaming him “Caky Perry,” adding even more laughter to the gathering.
