Armed Forces Showcased Unity and Strategic Foresight in Operation Sindoor: President

President Droupadi Murmu hails the Armed Forces for their coordinated tri-service response during Operation Sindoor, underscoring India’s commitment to peace and preparedness.

New Delhi, Oct 7: President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday lauded the Indian Armed Forces for their joint operational strength and strategic foresight demonstrated during Operation Sindoor, which successfully dismantled terrorist infrastructure across the Line of Control (LoC).

The President said the coordinated efforts of the Army, Navy, and Air Force during the operation reflected India’s growing military synergy and technological advancement.

“In response to the Pahalgam terror attack, our Armed Forces demonstrated the strength of jointness and strategic foresight during Operation Sindoor. The calibrated, tri-service response resulted in effective synergy, leading to the dismantling of terror infrastructure across the LoC and deep inside enemy territories,” Murmu said while addressing the faculty and course members of the 65th National Defence College (NDC) course at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 following the Pahalgam terror strike, targeting terrorist bases in Pakistan-controlled areas. The four day operation concluded on May 10 after an understanding was reached to cease military action.

Highlighting India’s ongoing efforts to modernise its defence structure, President Murmu said the country is transforming its armed forces into a “technologically advanced, combat ready force capable of multi domain integrated operations.”

She noted that the creation of the Department of Military Affairs under the Chief of Defence Staff and the move toward establishing Integrated Theatre Commands and Battle Groups reflect India’s commitment to promoting greater jointness among the services.

Murmu also emphasised that India’s defence philosophy is rooted in peace, but with preparedness to act when necessary. “Our tradition believes in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam   the world as one family. Yet, like in the Mahabharata, while peace is our first choice, we must be ready to fight with conviction when it becomes unavoidable,” she said.

Drawing a symbolic connection, the President pointed out the proximity of Gandhi Smriti and the National Defence College in Delhi, saying it represents India’s balanced value system one that upholds peace while being ever-prepared to defend it.
