General Upendra Dwivedi returns to his alma mater as reviewing officer, aerial display and academic excellence mark landmark ceremony in Pune

PUNE, May 30: Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday reviewed the Passing Out Parade of the 150th Course of the National Defence Academy (NDA) at Khadakwasla, Pune, where 355 cadets graduated and were commissioned into the Indian Armed Forces.

Held at the Khetarpal Parade Ground, the ceremony witnessed the graduating cadets march with precision and discipline before embarking on careers in the Army, Navy and Air Force. The event marked a significant milestone in the journey of the young officers as they transitioned from training to active service.

The occasion was particularly memorable as General Dwivedi returned to the academy where he trained as a cadet. An alumnus of the NDA’s 65th Course, he underwent military training at Charlie Squadron before rising through the ranks to become the Chief of the Army Staff.

His presence at the parade symbolised the values of perseverance, leadership and service that the academy seeks to instill in every cadet, offering a powerful example for the graduating course.

Academic achievers were also recognised during the convocation ceremonies held alongside the parade. Battalion Cadet Captain Sushant Varma of P Squadron secured the top position in the Social Science stream and attributed his success to the academic environment and training at the academy.

J Squadron Cadet Ranvijay Tyagi, who emerged as the topper in the Computer Science stream, credited his parents and senior cadets for motivating and guiding him throughout his academic journey.

The celebrations were complemented by an impressive aerial display conducted from Air Force Station Lohegaon. The flypast featured Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft, Chetak helicopters, the Sarang Helicopter Aerobatics Team and the Akashganga Skydiving Team, showcasing the operational capabilities and professionalism of the Armed Forces.

Earlier, the Full Dress Rehearsal Parade held on May 28 was reviewed by NDA Commandant Vice Admiral Anil Jaggi, AVSM, NM, ahead of the grand passing-out ceremony.
