Army Foils Infiltration Attempt in J&K’s Uri Sector

Alert troops detect and push back suspected infiltrators in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district

Baramulla, Nov 19: Security forces on Wednesday foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said.

According to officials, Army units deployed at forward posts detected suspicious movement originating from the Pakistan side of the LoC. Troops immediately launched counter infiltration measures. The alert soldiers engaged the suspected infiltrators, forcing them to retreat back across the border.

Following the exchange, the area was thoroughly combed to ensure that no militant group had managed to cross over. Officials said searches were continuing in the forward belt as a precautionary measure.

Authorities added that the attempted infiltration reflects continued efforts by groups across the border to push armed militants into Kashmir ahead of winter. In response, security forces have strengthened surveillance and intensified night patrolling in vulnerable stretches of the Uri sector.

No casualties or recoveries had been reported at the time of filing this report.
