Srinagar, Oct 14: Security forces successfully foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Machil sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, killing two terrorists on Tuesday, sources said.
According to officials, the joint operation was launched late Monday night after troops observed suspicious movement near the LoC. The infiltrators were challenged by the Army, leading to a brief exchange of fire in which two terrorists were neutralized. Their bodies were recovered early Tuesday morning.
Following the encounter, additional reinforcements were rushed to the area to prevent any further infiltration attempts. A large-scale search and sanitization operation is currently underway to ensure no other terrorists are hiding in the region.
The operation underscores the heightened security preparedness of the Indian Army in thwarting infiltration bids from across the border, particularly ahead of the onset of winter when such attempts tend to increase.
