Army Jawan Injured in Ongoing Encounter with Terrorists in Kishtwar’s Chhatru Area

Security forces launch intelligence-based operation in Kalaban forest area; exchange of fire continues

Kishtwar, Nov 5: An Army jawan was injured on Wednesday during an ongoing encounter with terrorists in the Kalaban forest area of Naidgam, under the Chhatru Sub Division of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, officials said.

According to security sources, the injured soldier was immediately evacuated and shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition is stated to be stable.

The encounter began early Wednesday morning after security forces launched an intelligence-based joint operation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police to track down terrorists hiding in the dense forest area.

The White Knight Corps confirmed the operation in a post on X, stating:

“Contact with Terrorists | Op Chhatru | In an intelligence based operation, in concert with @jk_police, alert troops of #WhiteKnightCorps established contact with terrorists in the general area of Chhatru. Fire exchanged with terrorists. Operation is in progress.”

Heavy exchange of fire was reported between the security personnel and the terrorists as the operation entered its crucial phase. Reinforcements have been rushed to the site to prevent any escape attempt by the militants.
