14-06-2023 : Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched a scathing attack on the Central government led by Narendra Modi, accusing probe agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) of being political weapons of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Kejriwal suggested that the names of these agencies should be changed to “BJP Sena” to reflect their alleged bias.
Kejriwal’s criticism came in the wake of the late-night arrest of V Senthil Balaji, a Minister from Tamil Nadu, by the Enforcement Directorate. Taking to Twitter, Kejriwal expressed his discontent, stating that these investigative agencies, which were once respected, have now become mere tools for the BJP to target its political opponents.
In his tweet, Kejriwal reminisced about a time when the actions of CBI and ED were seen as a result of genuine wrongdoings by those being raided or arrested. However, according to Kejriwal, the current state of affairs has eroded the credibility and impartiality of these agencies, as they appear to be serving the interests of the ruling BJP rather than upholding justice.
The comments from the Delhi Chief Minister highlight the growing concern among opposition parties regarding the alleged misuse of probe agencies for political purposes. Critics argue that such actions undermine the independence and integrity of these institutions, eroding public trust and raising questions about the government’s commitment to fair and unbiased investigations.
