Assam Congress Chief Gaurav Gogoi’s Family Assets Surge to ₹7.57 Crore

Spouse Elizabeth Clare Gogoi accounts for majority of the asset growth, affidavit reveals

GUWAHATI: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president and Jorhat MP Gaurav Gogoi, along with his wife Elizabeth Clare Gogoi, have declared a combined asset portfolio of ₹7.57 crore for 2026, up from ₹4.66 crore in 2024, according to his nomination affidavit filed for the state Assembly elections.

The increase is largely driven by his wife’s movable assets, which rose to ₹4.36 crore from ₹2.03 crore, while Gogoi’s movable holdings increased to ₹72.59 lakh from ₹38.30 lakh. His immovable assets, including a one-third share in two Guwahati properties and a residential flat in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj, now total ₹2.49 crore.

The affidavit details cash holdings, bank deposits, and investments: Gogoi holds ₹54,700 in cash and ₹30.14 lakh in bank accounts, while his wife has ₹27,180 in cash and approximately ₹1.50 crore in bank deposits, including a UK account. Investments in bonds, shares, and mutual funds are valued at ₹11.47 lakh for Gogoi and ₹47.12 lakh for his spouse.

Elizabeth Clare Gogoi also holds ₹1.04 crore in postal and insurance instruments, ₹57.25 lakh in EPF savings, and a UK pension plan of ₹13.24 lakh. She owns 331 grams of gold worth ₹46.12 lakh, silver valued at ₹11.36 lakh, and diamonds worth ₹3.65 lakh.

In terms of vehicles, Gogoi owns two cars worth over ₹17 lakh, while his wife has one car valued at ₹2.71 lakh. Neither owns agricultural land.

Gogoi has a pending case in Basishta police station, Guwahati, related to alleged obstruction of government officials during the Congress ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ on January 23, 2024.

His declared income sources include his MP salary, while his wife is employed as a senior consultant with Oxford Policy Management India Ltd. Their minor children also hold fixed deposits and savings accounts, earning ₹25.79 lakh and ₹3,109 respectively.
