Sukma, 29 November: An Assistant Commandant of CRPF COBRA was killed in a Naxalite attack in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh last night. Nine people have been injured in the IED blast 9 of which some are said to be in critical condition. CRPF Assistant Commandant Nitin Bhalerao has died in this attack. Troops of Cobra, STF, and DRG from Chintagufa and Chintalnar police station area went out in an anti-Naxal operation last night. Meanwhile, the Naxalites targeted the soldiers of the Cobra 206 battalion by detonating the IED.
Superintendent of Police KL Dhruv said that cobras, STF, and DRG contingents had emerged from the Chintalnar, Burkapal, Chintagufa base camp on Saturday night in an anti-Naxal operation. During the operation, an IED blast occurred near Arbaraja Metta hill of Chintagufa police station area at around 8.30 pm. The SP said that the police station is 09 km north-west of Chintagufa and 06 km west of Burkapal Base Camp.
Ten soldiers of the 206 Cobras were injured in the IED blast, including second-in-command Dinesh Singh of Cobra 206 and assistant commandant Nitin Bhalerao . All the injured were immediately rushed to Chintalnar Field Hospital. Later in the night all 08 injured were taken to Raipur for better treatment. Two injured soldiers are being treated at Chintalnar Camp Hospital. During the treatment, Assistant Commandant Nitin Bhalerao was martyred. (HC).
