Atal Dulloo Takes Helm as Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, Succeeding Arun Kumar Mehta’s Illustrious Tenure

Jammu, 29-11-2023 : Atal Dulloo, a seasoned 1989-batch IAS officer of the Union Territories cadre, specifically Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory Cadre, has been appointed as the new chief secretary of Jammu and Kashmir. This appointment comes as Arun Kumar Mehta, the current chief secretary, is set to retire at the end of this month. The Ministry of Home Affairs issued an official order confirming Atal Dulloo’s appointment, stating that he will assume office on December 1, 2023.

The decision to appoint Atal Dulloo follows his repatriation from central deputation, where he served as the secretary of the Department of Border Management under the Home Ministry. The Central government repatriated him to his parent cadre on November 20, paving the way for his new role as the chief secretary of Jammu and Kashmir.

The official order from the Ministry of Home Affairs reads, “Consequent upon the superannuation of Arun Kumar Mehta, IAS on 30.11.2023 and on repatriation from central deputation, Atal Dulloo, IAS is hereby appointed as chief secretary, Jammu and Kashmir with effect from 01.12.2023, or from the date of assumption of charge, whichever is later and until further orders. This issues with the approval of competent authority.”

Atal Dulloo’s extensive experience and administrative acumen position him as a key figure to navigate the governance landscape in Jammu and Kashmir. His tenure as the chief secretary is set to commence on December 1, marking a significant transition in the leadership of the region.
