Australian Star Healy Announces ODI Retirement

Captain’s farewell century powers 3-0 series whitewash; hosts crushed by 185 runs in final match

India, March 2: Alyssa Healy produced a spectacular farewell performance in One-Day Internationals, smashing 158 to lead Australia women’s national cricket team to a commanding 185-run victory over India women’s national cricket team in the third and final ODI on Sunday.

The dominant win sealed a 3-0 series sweep for Australia. Asked to bat first, the visitors piled up a formidable 409 for seven, driven by Healy’s explosive 98-ball knock featuring 27 boundaries and two sixes. Beth Mooney added an unbeaten 106, while Georgia Voll contributed 62 off 52 deliveries in a key 134-run partnership with the skipper.

Healy, playing her 126th ODI, also shared a 145-run stand with Mooney to lay the foundation for the mammoth total. Late cameos from Annabel Sutherland and Nicola Carey further bolstered the innings.

In reply, India faltered under scoreboard pressure and were bowled out for 224 in 45.1 overs. Smriti Mandhana fell early, and although Pratika Rawal and Jemimah Rodrigues stitched together a brisk partnership, regular wickets halted momentum. Rodrigues’ fluent 42 was cut short, triggering a collapse through the middle overs.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur managed 25 before being trapped in front, while contributions from Richa Ghosh and others proved insufficient against disciplined Australian bowling. A 63-run stand between Deepti Sharma and Sneh Rana offered brief resistance, but the target remained well out of reach.

Rana impressed with both bat and ball, claiming two wickets and scoring 44, yet her effort came in a losing cause as India were comprehensively outplayed.

Healy concludes her ODI career with 3,777 runs from 126 matches, including eight centuries and 19 half-centuries. She will make her final international appearance in the upcoming pink-ball Test in Perth, bringing the curtain down on a distinguished career.

With the ODI sweep, Australia extended their lead in the ongoing multi-format series, maintaining a firm grip heading into the one-off Test encounter.
