08-06-2023 : Senior IPS officer B Srinivasan, renowned for his significant contributions to strengthening the intelligence wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, has been appointed as the Director General of Puducherry Police. The Ministry of Home Affairs also announced the appointment of IPS officer Anil Shukla as the police chief of Mizoram. These appointments mark a series of transfers and postings within the Indian police forces.
B Srinivasan, a distinguished officer from the 1990 batch of the Indian Police Service (IPS), played a vital role as the intelligence chief during the abrogation of the special status of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. He is the second officer to be transferred out of the Union territory after the merger of the Jammu and Kashmir cadre with the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories) cadre. Previously, Lalatendu Mohanty was posted in the Delhi Police.
In the new appointment, B Srinivasan takes over the role of Director General from Manoj Kumar Lal, who has been summoned to Delhi for further posting. His expertise and experience in intelligence operations will be valuable assets in his new position.
Simultaneously, Anil Shukla, a distinguished officer from the 1996 batch of the AGMUT cadre, has been assigned the responsibility of Director General of Mizoram Police. Previously, he served as the Inspector General of Police in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Anil Shukla’s tenure at the National Investigation Agency included heading investigations into various terror-related crimes in Jammu and Kashmir. Notably, a significant crackdown on separatist activities took place during his leadership. He replaces Devesh Chandra Srivastava, who has been reassigned as the Director General of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Satish Golcha, a highly experienced officer from the 1992 IPS batch of the AGMUT cadre, who was serving as the Director General of Arunachal Pradesh Police, has been transferred to Delhi for further posting. His successor in Arunachal Pradesh will be Anand Mohan, an accomplished officer from the 1994 batch.
Furthermore, Neeraj Thakur, a distinguished officer from the 1994 IPS batch, has been relocated to Delhi for his next assignment. He previously held the position of Director General of Police in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
These transfers and appointments reflect the dynamic nature of the Indian police forces, aiming to optimize the leadership and expertise of officers in various regions and domains. The selected officers bring with them a wealth of experience and a proven track record, which will contribute to the effective management and operation of the police forces in their respective jurisdictions.
