Bangladesh, Feb 05 : As Bangladesh approaches its February 12 general elections, Jamaat-e-Islami has outlined a foreign policy vision focused on fostering peaceful and cooperative relations with neighboring countries, including India, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Thailand, grounded in “mutual respect and fairness.”
The party’s manifesto highlights building constructive and friendly ties with neighboring nations while strengthening relations with the Muslim world and developed countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Japan, and Canada. It also aims to expand diplomatic, economic, and strategic engagement with Eastern Europe, Africa, and South America.
Jamaat emphasized active participation in international organisations, including the United Nations, to address global challenges like peace, security, human rights, and economic development. The manifesto reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to regional bodies such as SAARC and ASEAN.
On humanitarian issues, the party promised to work with the international community to find a “peaceful and sustainable solution to the Rohingya crisis,” ensuring safe and dignified repatriation. It also pledged to continue participation in UN peacekeeping missions and support orderly migration management systems.
Notably, while promising extensive diplomatic outreach, the manifesto makes no reference to Pakistan, signaling a focus on regional and global partnerships.
