Lucknow, Dec 01 : The Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested a Bangladeshi woman living under a false Hindu identity in Thakurganj, Lucknow. Identified as Nargis, she has been residing in India for several years using multiple fake identities, including names like Nirmala and Jasmine. Her current husband has also been taken into custody.
An FIR was lodged by Sub-Inspector Ravi Prakash on behalf of the ATS, officials said on Monday. Investigators revealed that Nargis entered India in 2006 with her first husband through West Bengal. After her husband abandoned her in Kolkata, she moved across several locations.
She later married Hariom Anand in Ballia, presenting herself as Jasmine, before relocating to Gosainganj in Lucknow. Following a dispute, she left him and, with the assistance of a cleric, married Sameer from Salempur, Kakori. The couple settled in Baroura Hussainbadi, Thakurganj, and have an 11 month old daughter.
While living in Thakurganj, Nargis posed as Nirmala and performed Hindu rituals to avoid suspicion. During the raid, ATS recovered two Aadhaar cards and other forged documents under different names.
Authorities are now investigating the creation of these fake identity documents and any accomplices involved in facilitating them.
