Baramulla Security Sweep Unearths Two Pistols and Ammunition Cache

Arms and ammunition seized during coordinated operations in Kanispora and Uri areas; probe underway

SRINAGAR, Jun 9: Security forces recovered two pistols, magazines and live ammunition during separate operations in Baramulla district, dealing a blow to an alleged attempt to move illegal weapons in the region.

According to police, a joint team of Baramulla Police and 52 Rashtriya Rifles recovered a foreign-made pistol from the Chandsuma area of Kanispora during an operation based on specific inputs.

Subsequent investigation led security personnel to the Kamalkot area of Uri Tehsil, where another pistol, two magazines and 13 live rounds were seized.

Officials described the recoveries as part of ongoing efforts to curb unlawful arms movement and maintain security in the border district.

Police said further investigation is in progress to ascertain the source and intended destination of the recovered weapons. No arrests have been announced so far in connection with the case.
