Nayanpur, Feb 07 : Symbolic Blow to Naxal Influence in Narayanpur
Security forces on Saturday dismantled a prominent Maoist monument in Farsgaon village, Kutul area, Narayanpur district, striking a symbolic blow to Naxal presence in Bastar. The operation was conducted by the Narayanpur Police in coordination with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) as part of sustained anti-Maoist efforts.
Part of Maad Bachao Campaign to Curb Extremism
The demolition falls under the Centre and Chhattisgarh government’s Maad Bachao (Save Maad) initiative, aimed at eliminating Left-Wing Extremism and establishing a Naxal-free Bastar through combined security and development measures. Officials said the monument, typically used by Maoists to glorify fallen cadres and intimidate local residents, was razed using heavy machinery, including a jumbo excavator.
Area Domination and Development Outreach
The operation was carried out during area domination exercises in Kutul, Farsgaon, and surrounding interior pockets. Authorities are complementing security measures with the expansion of permanent camps, construction of roads and bridges, and delivery of welfare schemes to previously inaccessible tribal villages. These steps are gradually weakening Maoist influence and encouraging locals to cooperate with governance and development initiatives.
Momentum Grows Against Naxal Strongholds
The Maad Bachao campaign has intensified in recent months, resulting in arms recoveries, surrender of cadres, and the extension of government presence deeper into insurgency-hit zones. Officials emphasized that removing such structures is crucial not just symbolically but also for creating space for healthcare, education, and economic opportunities in regions long dominated by Naxals.
Government Push to Mainstream Tribal Areas
The latest action demonstrates the administration’s determination to loosen Maoist control over Narayanpur and adjacent districts while integrating tribal communities into mainstream governance and development programs.
