Bengal, Nov 24 : A persistent Low Pressure Area over the Bay of Bengal is set to intensify into a Depression by tomorrow and further strengthen into a Cyclonic Storm within the next 48 hours, even as heavy rains lashed the Cauvery delta, southern and south coastal districts of Tamil Nadu.
The Meteorological Department said the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over the Strait of Malacca and adjoining south Andaman Sea has remained stationary. It is expected to move west-northwestwards, strengthening first into a Depression and then a Cyclonic Storm over the southeast Bay.
Meanwhile, yet another new Low Pressure Area is likely to form tomorrow over the Comorin region and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal and Sri Lanka, further enhancing Northeast Monsoon activity across the state and indicating more wet days ahead.
