New Delhi, Mar 10: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced a cash reward of ₹131 crore for the Indian team following its historic victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
The reward will be distributed among the 15-member squad, the coaching staff and other members of the support team. According to sources, players are expected to receive the largest share of the prize money, while allocations for support staff will be determined based on their roles within the team setup.
The reward amount marks an increase of ₹6 crore compared to the ₹125 crore prize that was awarded to the team led by Rohit Sharma after its title win in 2024.
In an official statement, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia congratulated the players, support staff and selectors for the milestone achievement and wished them continued success in future tournaments.
India secured the championship after defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The victory allowed India to successfully defend its title, becoming the first team in the tournament’s history to retain the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
With the latest triumph, India also became the first side to win the T20 World Cup three times, reinforcing its position as one of the most dominant teams in the shortest format of international cricket.
