Mumbai, Aug 04 : The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled an expanded domestic cricket calendar aimed at providing greater match exposure and strengthening the country’s talent development system. The revised schedule is designed to ensure players receive consistent competitive cricket throughout the season while improving the transition from domestic to international levels.
The updated calendar includes a balanced distribution of red-ball, white-ball, and T20 tournaments, allowing cricketers to sharpen their skills across formats. State associations are expected to benefit from improved scheduling, giving teams more time for preparation and player management.
BCCI officials said the changes are intended to create a more structured pathway for young talent while ensuring established domestic players remain match-ready for national selection. The board also plans to improve coordination between domestic competitions and international commitments to minimise scheduling conflicts.
Coaches and former cricketers have welcomed the move, noting that a longer and better-organised season will help players gain valuable experience under different conditions. The initiative is also expected to strengthen the bench strength available for India’s senior teams.
With domestic cricket serving as the backbone of Indian cricket, the revamped calendar is being viewed as another step towards maintaining the country’s dominance across all formats of the game.
