“BCCI Orders KKR to Release Mustafizur Rahman Amid Ongoing Developments”

Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman to be released from Kolkata Knight Riders squad franchise can sign a replacement, confirms BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia.

Kolkata, Dec 03 : The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has instructed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to release Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman from their squad, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed on Saturday, citing recent developments.

“Due to the ongoing developments across the board, the BCCI has instructed KKR to release Mustafizur Rahman from their squad. If the franchise wishes to bring in a replacement, the Board will approve it,” Saikia said.

He further clarified that KKR will have the option to sign a replacement player with the BCCI’s approval, ensuring the team remains competitively balanced.

In addition to this update, Saikia provided details regarding the Indian cricket team’s upcoming series. The ODI squad for the New Zealand tour is expected to be announced today following a selection committee meeting.

“As you know, India will play New Zealand in a three-match ODI series starting January 11, 2026. Today, the selectors will meet, and the squad announcement will be made in the afternoon,” Saikia said.

For the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand, scheduled to begin on January 21, one of the five matches will take place in Guwahati, Saikia added.
